Communications Coordinator

Reports Directly To: JLCC President

Hours: Monday – Friday / 9 am – 2 pm (Part Time, Non Exempt)
Hours may vary based on needs of the league; some
evening/weekend hours may apply; not to exceed a total of 35
hours per week

Primary Purpose: The Communications Coordinator provides support for the JLCC’s overall communication efforts, including internal and external publications, JLCC website, and electronic communications. This position works closely with our organizational leadership to ensure appropriate messaging to JLCC membership and external parties.

Orientation Period: The first 90 days of employment are considered an orientation period. Employment with the JLCC is always at-will, which means
either you or the JLCC may terminate the relationship at any time.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or study in Graphic Design, Advertising, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field

Essential Role Requirements:
The Junior League of Collin County is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
We are seeking a Communications Coordinator to lead creation, copy-editing, and approval of content across our platforms and publications throughout the year.

1. Publications
• Works with the President and Communications Council to design and execute the yearly publication Legends & Legacies which serves as an annual report
• Works with the President and Communications Council to design and execute the Handbook/Directory which serves as a yearly historical document
• Coordinates with professional vendors as needed (e.g., printers, photographers, graphic designers, public relations firm, etc.)
• Manages and catalogues prior year’s publications to ensure retention of material
• Works with Communications Council to help repurpose content (e.g. online, blog, fact sheets, etc.)

2. JLCC Website
• Assists the Website Committee as needed (e.g. online content management, internal communications, etc.)
• Assists with maintaining membership records in member management system
• Assists with running reports in member management system
• Assists with shifts, calendars, and membership requirement tracking
• Manages internal forms and downloads section of the member website
• Manages the external community partner contact database and updates as needed
• Assists members with passwords and administrative rights as required

3. Miscellaneous
• Ensures that JLCC brand is accurately and consistently communicated
• Assists with production and updates to JLCC materials (e.g., recruitment brochures, sponsorship forms, etc.)
• Creates and maintains various procedure/training manuals for technology/communications
• Works with the Office Manager to maintain office print supplies (e.g., business cards, pens, folders, letterhead, etc.) and helps with design, as needed
• Manages annual maintenance of History IT, our digital historical records
• Submits regular reports on communications activities, engagement levels, and progress
• Other duties as assigned by the President

Experience:
• Graphic design experience, specifically with InDesign, Photoshop and Canva
• Previous experience in Digital Cheetah a plus

Characteristics/Skills:
• Commitment to maintaining high level of integrity and professionalism
• Strong project management and analytical skills, creative and resourceful in forming approaches to increase brand awareness and appreciation
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Willingness to learn and become proficient in the use of a member management software system (JLCC will train)
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to interact with JLCC volunteers and members of the community in a manner that represents JLCC positively
• Ability to work independently, prioritize daily work assignments and multi-task as necessary
• Ability to use good judgment
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
• Articulate, polished, and professional demeanor with strong work ethic, initiative, and confidence
• Ability to recognize and safeguard confidential information
